Courses in Stained Glass

Come and learn the ancient craft of stained glass in my purpose built studio, set in the beautiful and quiet Sussex countryside.
There are courses to suit all abilities, come and have fun with a group of friends and make a stunning piece of stained glass.

Beginners one day course

Come and learn the medieval craft of stained glass in my studio set in the
beautiful Sussex countryside. Using traditional materials and techniques,
together with comprehensive tuition, make a small stained glass window
to take home.

Tutor Issy Brunsdon has been a stained glass artist for more than twenty years,
working on commissions for houses and ecclesiastical buildings. I currently
also teach stained glass to students of various levels at a further education
college. The day starts at 9.30am and finishes around 5-6pm Maximum 4
students per class.

This one day introductory course will enable you to produce an A4 size leaded
stained glass panel. There will be informal discussions, lots of hands on practice
and comprehensive tuition. An assortment of patterns will be provided for
your project or if you wish, you can bring your own. Have a look at the work by
some of my previous students to get an idea of possibilities.

I will teach you how to cut glass, practicing on clear glass, before choosing a
variety of colours and textures for your panel from my wide stock of glass. We
will break for lunch at 1.00pm.which will be provided. After lunch I will teach
you the process of ‘leading up’ and soldering. Finally I will demonstrate the
cementing and finishing process. As this can be quite time consuming,
depending on the time I can complete this part for you, allowing the cement to
dry, before the panels are ready for collection or delivery.
